About Mrs. Porter
I graduated in 2012 with a bachelor degree in education with an emphasis in secondary education (grades 6-12) from Baker College. I have endorsements in English education (BA endorsement) and social studies education (RX endorsement). I am also certified in Orton-Gillingham, which is a series of strategies that was specifically designed for students who have learning disabilities and struggling learners. After graduating from Fowler High School in 2008, I knew that I wanted to work with students. Volunteering as a mentor for at-risk students in the AmeriCorp 4-H Mentor Michigan Initiative reinforced my belief. Coaching has also reinforced my passion for pursuing a career in education. I'm the coach for middle school cross country and assistant coach for track and field.
On a personal note, I am married to a wonderful social studies teacher who teaches at Carson City-Crystal High School. We live in Fowler. I love being outside, reading, listening to music, and going for walks. Hanging out with family and friends is important to me. I like cooking and working on our house, too!
Ollie, our chocolate lab, is our fur child. He is an adorable, lovable spaz! He loves playing fetch, swimming (and dock diving), and cuddling. He keeps us busy!
